262 Notifications of Interest issued in June 21 Alberta Express Entry Stream draw

Alberta has released the details of the latest draw through its popular Express Entry-aligned provincial nomination stream.

The June 21 draw issued 262 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to Express Entry candidates with scores as low as 300.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the Government of Alberta to select eligible candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system, which manages the pool of candidates for Canada’s three Federal High Skilled immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination from Alberta receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and are effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent draw from the Express Entry pool.

One of the Alberta Express Entry Stream’s key advantages is the fact it provides Express Entry candidates who have lower CRS scores with an opportunity to obtain Canadian permanent residence.

The cut-off score of 300 in Alberta’s June 21 invitation round is significantly lower than the cut-off scores for draws conducted through the Express Entry system itself this year.

Nomination certificate limits

The following numbers are accurate as of July 2, 2019.

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) can issue up to 6,000 nominations for the 2019 calendar year. This limit is set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

2,767 nomination certificates have been issued so far in 2019.

Approximately 1,866 applications await assessment for eligibility.

Approximate volumes and assessment dates for each AINP stream/category are provided below.

“Assessing” means an AINP officer has been assigned a file to make an assessment and decision on eligibility.

Applications received after the date stated below have not yet been assigned to an officer for assessment.

The most common factors considered in AINP application processing include:

• application quality (completeness, eligibility, outdated application information/documents)
• labour market information
• volume of applications received
• the date the application was received

Strategic Recruitment Stream

The AINP is no longer accepting application under this stream.

Self-Employed Farmer Stream

The AINP works closely with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AAF) to assess the eligibility of applicants under this stream. Processing times are not available.

The AINP has a high volume of applications and Alberta Expression Entry submissions in the following occupations. These submissions may take longer to process.

2132 – Mechanical engineers

1122 – Professional occupations in business management consulting

6211 – Retail sales supervisors

1241 – Administrative assistants

4212 – Social and community service workers

Alberta Express Entry Stream Selection Draws

The AINP regularly reviews available candidates in the federal Express Entry pool. Based on available profile information in the portal, the AINP draws to select candidates from the pool, inviting them to submit a completed application to the AINP.
