Important update on the Global Talent Independent visa program.
In line with Ministerial Direction no. 89 the list of target sectors to apply for the GTI program was updated on 9 February 2021.
The 10 key industry sectors have been identified to support post-COVID-19 economic recovery.
The updated list of target sectors is:
Resources (critical minerals)
Agri-food and AgTech
Energy (Clean energy and renewables)
Health industries (Life sciences, Biomedical technology)
Defense, advanced manufacturing and Space
Circular economy (Recycling and Clean energy)
DigiTech (Data sciences, Cybersecurity)
Infrastructure and tourism
Financial services and FinTech
Education
From 20 January 2021, Masters by Coursework, Masters by Research and Bachelor with Honours graduates are no longer eligible.
Global Talent Officers are currently processing GTI EOIs submitted in June 2020.
