How the 2021-22 Federal Budget will impact Australian immigration?

ℹ️ The Federal Budget 2021-22 will be delivered in Parliament by Treasurer Josh Frydenberg on Tuesday 11 May 2021. The Migration Program will be announced as part of the Federal Budget.

The Migration Program is currently managed through three streams and a separate Child category. Planning levels across the 2020-21 Migration Program were set to:

▪️ Skill stream: 79,600 places
▪️ Family stream: 77,300 places
▪️ Special Eligibility stream: 100 places
▪️ Child visas managed outside the program ceiling: 3,000 places
The Skill stream is divided into the following categories:
▪️ Employer Sponsored: 22,000
▪️ Skilled Independent: 6,500
▪️ Regional: 11,200
▪️ ​State/Territory Nominated: 11,200
▪️ Business Innovation & Investment program: 13,500
▪️ Global Talent: 15,000
▪️ Distinguished Talent: 200
TOTAL: 79,600

Migration Program settings for 2021-22 will also take into consideration the Government’s population planning objectives, including reducing pressure on Australia’s major cities while allowing for improved city planning and infrastructure to be put in place, boosting the development of regional and low-populated areas, and managing sustainable population growth across Australia.
